Awesome planted tank rajan da..!!!
Its was a good learning experience for a new comer like me from your journal.
i have 1 question about the substrate : How much prodac humus & solirite (in kgs or gms )you have used in your setup.
As i will be starting my planted tank set up for a 3 ft tank (36' L x 18' W x 18' H), i will be going for the same set up for the substrate so wanted to know the right amount i should purchase . i have also given the link for both the products, kindly go through them and let me know how much should i need for my set up.
for prodac humus : http://www.indohobby.com/prodac-humus-p ... -soil.html
for soilrite : http://gardenesia.com/product/accessories/soilrite/

Thank you in advance & keep up the good work..!!!

i used the whole pack of Humus and 500gms of the 1Kg packet. Your base layers can differ according to the scape and the thickness of substrate you desire.

Rs.250 for soilrite is expensive. Contact Ratan da from Chetla and you will get it under 200. You will get his contact here if you search a bit.

So rajan da you have used 1 kg + 500 gms more of humus in total am i right..? As the humus packs comes in 500 gms only...Did u buy humus from the same site..?

dada can i use coco peat instead of humus ?? Would that be good as same as humus ? :-?

i am thinking of making layers in the following manner:

Base Layer : coco peat or Prodac humus (1 Kg i.e minimum 1 inch layer or less)

Second layer : Soilrite (1 kg same 1 inch layer or less )

Top layer : Laterite ( 1- 1.5 inch layer according to the scape or the whole look of it)

What changes should i make to the above layers according to u ..?

You need to top them all with sand/sand gravel otherwise they will leach in the water. The capping layer thus needs to be the thickest.

I havent used cocopeat so I shouldnt comment but I don't think Humus and cocopeat are of the same use.

Life is always full of work and there are phases when they can really kill you! So, I have been going through that phase again and there is not much I could do to take a proper click of the tank or even at times take care of the minute fine tuning of the tank. Then there was time I have been spending after a new project. All I have been doing is trying to keep the basics of Light-dosing-co2 constant but there are tremendous CO2 fluctuations which has caused quite some GHA.

Am still playing around with the plants species. So, rotala high red has made way to didiplis diandra and HM. Also are a few stems of Ludwigia arcuata and Limnophila sp. slender. A big thanks to @Abhirup for these cuttings. Another one goes to @SanamMarik for the downois and reinkii minis in the foreground. The java moss on the bogwood is all gone and distributed with KAC members but they are growing back again with the nip in the temperature. Also trying Staurogyne Porto velho in the foreground for the first time.

Last but not the least huge thanks to @Soumya Sarkar for the click! :)
