Time for a Nano Drive..

Postby abhirup » Fri Jul 10, 2015 5:35 pm

For the past few days its raining incessantly in Kolkata causing a lot of trouble to the daily commuters but for CrAzY people like me, it struck the right cord of starting a new nano tank.. The temperature is pretty good now, specially indoors and I am sure the plants are gonna love this, though there is no guarantee that it is going to remain like this and it may so happen that the sun comes back to the party and spills water over all my plans..
But anyways thats not gonna stop me from indulging once again in creating a nano..as usual a planted one...

The idea came on a rain hit Friday evening after returning a bit early from work..I had collected a bunch of driftwood recently from Buro da and from there got a small one suitable for this tank size..

This is an old tank with lot of scratches on the front glass but at the moment I am more concerned about the inner scape and so I am ignoring these small issues...substrate = old amazonia..hard scape materials = the recently brought wood and a bag of lava stones that I got from partha which was crying for a long time tied inside the bag in which they were shipped. I was thinking for a long time to utilize them but some how that didn't happen..BTW this is the first time I will be using lava rocks in my scape...so pretty excited..

The entire thing till now was purely out of adrenaline.. Now coming to the practical problems..before I kick start the tank, I have to fix few things..first change the plls of the existing DIY fixture and refill the co2 cylinder..
Needless to say a lot of work still needs to be done on the hard scape end..

Moreover plants need to be selected carefully so that the tank can withstand the unpredictable season.. It is most likely that the mercury levels will shoot up in no time..

The basic plan is to use some anubias petite/ bucephalendra (whichever I can get hold off) along with some creeping moss and Monte Carlo.. Also thinking of adding some stems and eriocaulons..a hybrid of low and high demanding plants...

But at the moment the main focus is to get the hard scape right.. Have created the first draft version of the hard scape..a lot of changes will be incorporated..a lot of things will be added..substrate level adjustments will be made...

the game has just begun.... ;)

Thanks sahajaydip...

Currently I am confused with the scape..a lot of permutations and combinations will soon happen inside this 15*12*12 tank.. Will be adding few twigs tomorrow.. Also the rock work will change a bit..please ignore the poor image quality as it is taken from mobile camera.. Even didn't wipe the front glass.. :p
