white eye ball in betta! is it a parasites?

Postby Ani » Sat May 24, 2014 5:59 am

Two weeks back we adopted a betta with torn fins and some folded fins. May be for keeping him in small container for long.
The guy (@ shop) was handling him very roughly. So we thought it would not be bad to provide him a decent home. So we brought him and place him in a bowl with some flat rock and a lily plant.
we thought he is just taired. He will be ok in coming days. He takes food okay but always shows Lazyness. Seats on stone for long time. Puts it' s head under the stone!
It was just yesterday I found out that one of his eyes is white. I mean only his eye ball. Not cloudy eye. That's I am sure.
Now my questions are-
1) Is it a injury of fight? Or any ratina eating parasites?
2) What can I do to treat him?
3) Is there any changes for complete cure?

Ragim~
20% WC every alternative day.
80% WC every 15 days.
Food- Fridge dried BW & Tettra bites complete alternative days.
No filter yet.

Possibility is that the betta already had the disease before you bought him due to the improper way it was kept.

Take a loot at this article. It will help.

As far the regime you mentioned it is fine.

Please put a decent pic of the affected eye ...

i had one it was caused when i dropped him.i did the following:

water changes everyday helps a lot. do increase water change to 80% per day with same temperature water having same perimeters and must be chlorine free(aged water).
feed live food everyday 2wice, enough that he can consume in 15 mins.

it took me about 15-30 days to cure it and yes i put him in 10 gallon. not a jar. u should have enough room for him to move freely and of course some place to hide. dont stress him too much.

wish ur betta recovers soon :)
