Sadly, the order was placed last night nd hence making holes now is not possible. But i will make arrangements for the filtration. Moreover, Top filter is not an option for my plans. :(
There are three reasons why i would like to keep every cube separate and avoid using top filters-
3) Top filters cant be allowed in a planted setup, especially when it is a low-tech.
. :( :)

Why Top-filter is not allowed to planted setup ?
If ans is too much turbulence (too much O2 dissolved in water) then ..................
If we extend the in-flow pipe and dip it inside water level then there will be negligible turbulence and attached one pipe with submersible outlet and attached it to the top box oh! you already did that in one of your tank afaik

Thanks for the effort dada. It will surely reduce agitation but when the water spills on the sponge in the filter chamber, the thin film of water is destroyed causing gas transfers... It is also tough fo find so small top filter which can fit for 10" tanks. I want to keep the chambers isolated in every way. :)

An Update-

I installed sobo HOBs on individual chambers and measured the effective water flow rate to be just more than 200lph.

The main worry I had that if the fishes are gonna like such a flow in the tank. And eventually I found the answer in due time... :)

Below are the pics showing if the Bettas are happy with a flow of more than 10 times water filtration rate...tanks now hold around 12-14L water after substrate is being added.
For lights I used Halonix 7W 6000K 600Lm bulbs and I find my downois to be growing very good with that light... :)

Glad you liked it....
here are pics of the cat fish...its a very small fish measuring at max 20 millimeter in length and 3-5 mm across (body w/o fins)
Feeding these guys is a kind of real pain...everyday I need to hold tubifex in front of their mouth and then they will eat.
Very lathergetic and these are nocturnal too...
but very very peaceful in nature...so much that they get annoyed and scared up by the native shrimps measuring just a few mm more than these fishes and hence I removed the shrimps and kept the Shawis only in the tank... :)

Wasnt sure which fts you are looking for, hence giving two probable pics... :)

Dada, I have thought of adding two 50W heaters to the left most and right most ones...Middle two tanks will get the heat from its neighbours... :)
Kindly feel free to share any other ideas... :)

Here goes the pics... All the chambers hold different substrate compositions... :)
Please ignore the algae as I have not been able to maintain my tanks due to my heart warming professional and educational schedules.

The Shawi tank... :) All the Helferi you c are tissue cultured and none of them died or even got a melted leaf when initially planted(this goes against the normal scenarios). The plants and substrate are two months old now... :)
After this pic you can find the initial day after planting them. :)
